Ingredients (Makes about 24 cookies):
-
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-
¾ cup granulated sugar
-
¾ cup packed brown sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
-
½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
-
Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
-
Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
-
Combine with dry ingredients: Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
-
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
-
Scoop and bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Leave space between cookies to allow for spreading.
-
Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
-
Cool on a wire rack for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Tips:
-
For chewy cookies, underbake slightly and let them finish setting on the tray.
-
Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
-
Substitute dark or milk chocolate chips based on your preference.
