 Chocolate Chip Cookies

Soft in the center with crispy edges, these chocolate chip cookies are everything a cookie should be. Perfect for baking at home, they’re simple, satisfying, and always a crowd favorite.

Ingredients (Makes about 24 cookies):

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.

  5. Combine with dry ingredients: Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts if using.

  7. Scoop and bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Leave space between cookies to allow for spreading.

  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.

  9. Cool on a wire rack for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • For chewy cookies, underbake slightly and let them finish setting on the tray.

  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.

  • Substitute dark or milk chocolate chips based on your preference.
