Chocolate Fudge Swirl Ice Cream
Creamy, rich, and packed with deep chocolate flavor, this Chocolate Fudge Swirl Ice Cream is a dreamy treat for chocolate lovers. Velvety vanilla ice cream is laced with thick ribbons of homemade chocolate fudge sauce in every scoop.
Ingredients:
For the Ice Cream Base:
-
2 cups heavy cream
-
1 cup whole milk
-
3/4 cup granulated sugar
-
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
-
Pinch of salt
For the Fudge Swirl:
-
1/2 cup heavy cream
-
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
-
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
-
2 tablespoons light corn syrup or honey
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Make the Ice Cream Base:
-
In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.
-
Cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to chill thoroughly.
Make the Fudge Swirl:
-
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, chocolate, cocoa powder, corn syrup (or honey), and salt.
-
Stir until smooth and glossy. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
-
Let cool to room temperature. The sauce should be thick but pourable.
Churn and Swirl:
-
Pour the chilled ice cream base into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Once the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency, layer it into a freezer-safe container, alternating with spoonfuls of the fudge sauce.
-
Use a knife or spatula to gently swirl the fudge through the ice cream — don’t overmix.
Freeze:
Cover the container and freeze for at least 2–4 hours until firm.
Tips:
-
For a deeper chocolate swirl, use dark chocolate (60–70% cacao).
-
Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping for a smoother texture.
Serving Suggestions:
Top with whipped cream, extra fudge sauce, or chocolate shavings for a double-chocolate dessert.
