Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

 Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Cool, creamy, and studded with rich chocolate flakes, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is a refreshing dessert that’s both light and indulgent. With real mint flavor and a smooth texture, it’s a homemade favorite that never goes out of style.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract (not mint extract)

  • A few drops green food coloring (optional)

  • Pinch of salt

  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips or finely chopped dark chocolate

Instructions:

  1. Make the Ice Cream Base
In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, milk, sugar, peppermint extract, food coloring (if using), and salt until the sugar dissolves completely.

  2. Chill the Mixture
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

  3. Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  4. Add Chocolate
During the last 5 minutes of churning, add the mini chocolate chips or finely chopped chocolate.

  5. Freeze to Firm
Transfer the churned ice cream to a container and freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality peppermint extract for a clean, refreshing flavor.

  • For soft chocolate flakes instead of chips, drizzle melted chocolate into the ice cream during the last few minutes of churning (known as the stracciatella method).

Serving Suggestions:

Serve with chocolate sauce, crushed cookies, or a sprig of fresh mint for garnish.
