Mint Lemonade
This fresh mint lemonade is a perfect balance of tart lemons, cooling mint, and just the right amount of sweetness. A classic summer drink, especially popular in Morocco and across the Middle East.
Ingredients (Serves 4):
-
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–5 lemons)
-
½ cup fresh mint leaves, packed
-
½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
-
3 cups cold water
-
1 cup ice cubes
-
Lemon slices and extra mint, for garnish
Instructions:
-
Make the Base:
In a blender, combine lemon juice, mint leaves, sugar, and 1 cup of cold water. Blend until smooth and the mint is finely chopped. -
Strain (Optional):
For a smoother drink, strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove mint pulp. -
Mix and Chill:
Pour the blended mixture into a pitcher. Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water and stir well. Add ice. -
Serve:
Pour into glasses over more ice. Garnish with lemon slices and mint sprigs.
Tips:
-
Adjust the sugar depending on how tart your lemons are.
-
For a fizzier version, replace 1 cup of water with sparkling water just before serving.
-
Add a pinch of salt for an electrolyte boost on especially hot days.
