Watermelon Sorbet
Made with just a few simple ingredients, Watermelon Sorbet is the ultimate summer dessert. It’s naturally sweet, dairy-free, and incredibly hydrating — the perfect way to cool off with a taste of real fruit.
Ingredients:
-
4 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
-
1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
-
2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
-
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
-
Blend the Ingredients
In a blender or food processor, combine watermelon cubes, sugar, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Blend until completely smooth. -
Taste and Adjust
Taste the purée and adjust sweetness or lime juice as needed, depending on how ripe your watermelon is. -
Strain (Optional)
For an extra smooth texture, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp. -
Chill the Mixture
Refrigerate the purée for at least 1–2 hours, until very cold. -
Churn the Sorbet
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a slushy, sorbet consistency. -
Freeze Until Firm
Transfer the churned sorbet to a container and freeze for 2–3 hours until scoopable.
No-Churn Option:
Pour the purée into a shallow pan and freeze. Stir with a fork every 30 minutes for 2–3 hours to create a fluffy texture similar to granita.
Tips:
-
Use very ripe, sweet watermelon for the best flavor.
-
Add a few mint leaves during blending for a fresh twist.
Serving Suggestions:
Scoop into chilled bowls or serve in hollowed-out lime halves for a fun presentation. Pairs well with fresh mint or a sprinkle of sea salt.
