 Banana Bread

Summary :

This classic banana bread is soft, flavorful, and slightly sweet. It’s made with ripe bananas, simple pantry ingredients, and can be customized with nuts or chocolate chips if you like.

Ingredients (Makes one 9x5 inch loaf)

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter

  • ¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

  2. In a large bowl, mix mashed bananas, oil (or butter), sugar, egg, and vanilla until combined.

  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir just until combined. Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.

  5. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

  • Overripe bananas with brown spots work best for sweetness and moisture.

  • You can substitute sugar with honey or maple syrup but reduce other liquids accordingly.

  • For a healthier version, replace half the flour with whole wheat flour.
