Ingredients
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter – melted
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 2 large eggs
– 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
– 1 tablespoon non-alcoholic vanilla flavoring or vanilla sugar – optional
– 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips – optional
Instructions
Step 1 – Prepare the Oven and Pan
– Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius
– Grease or line an 8 by 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper
Step 2 – Make the Batter
– In a large mixing bowl combine melted butter and sugar
– Add eggs and beat until smooth and glossy
– Stir in cocoa powder salt and baking powder
– Add flour and mix until just combined
– Fold in vanilla flavoring or vanilla sugar and nuts or chocolate chips if using
Step 3 – Bake
– Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly
– Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs
– Do not overbake for fudgy texture
Step 4 – Cool and Serve
– Let brownies cool in the pan before cutting into squares
– Serve plain or dust with powdered sugar
Tips
– For extra gooey brownies reduce flour slightly
– If using vanilla sugar reduce regular sugar by one tablespoon
– Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness
