Garlic Green Beans
Summary :
Garlic green beans are crisp-tender and sautéed in olive oil with fresh garlic. This easy side dish pairs perfectly with rice, chicken, or grilled dishes, and it's naturally halal, vegan, and gluten-free.
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
-
300g fresh green beans, trimmed
-
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
-
3 garlic cloves, minced
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes or a squeeze of lemon juice
Instructions
-
Blanch the green beans (optional for extra tenderness):
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook for 2–3 minutes. Drain and transfer to cold water to stop cooking. Drain again. -
Sauté the garlic:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant (do not brown). -
Cook the green beans:
Add the green beans to the skillet. Stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until tender-crisp and coated in garlic oil. -
Season and serve:
Add salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes or lemon juice. Serve warm.
Notes
-
For extra flavor, add a splash of soy sauce or toasted sesame seeds.
-
You can also roast green beans with garlic in the oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15–20 minutes.
-
Works well with frozen green beans too — just thaw and dry them before cooking.
