Fresh Cranberry Juice

 Fresh Cranberry Juice

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Servings: 2–3 glasses

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries

  • 3 cups cold water

  • 2–3 tablespoons honey or sugar (adjust to taste)

  • Ice cubes (optional)

  • Fresh mint leaves or a few cranberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Select the Cranberries: Choose fresh, firm cranberries that are deep red in color. Avoid any that are soft, shriveled, or moldy.

  2. Wash Thoroughly: Rinse the cranberries under cold running water to remove dirt or residues. Pat dry with a clean towel.

  3. Boil (Optional for Fresh Cranberries): Place cranberries in a saucepan with 1–2 cups of water. Bring to a gentle boil for 5–7 minutes until the cranberries soften and burst. This step is optional but helps reduce tartness.

  4. Blend the Cranberries: Transfer the cranberries (cooked or raw) to a blender. Add remaining cold water and blend until smooth.

  5. Strain the Juice: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a jug to remove pulp and skins. Press gently to extract as much juice as possible.

  6. Sweeten to Taste: Add honey or sugar gradually, stirring until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness according to your preference.

  7. Serve Cold: Pour the juice into glasses over ice cubes for a refreshing, naturally tart beverage.

  8. Garnish for Presentation: Add a few fresh cranberries or a mint leaf to each glass to enhance visual appeal and aroma.

Tips and Notes:

  • Best Consumption: Fresh cranberry juice is most flavorful and nutritious when consumed immediately after preparation.

  • Variations: Combine cranberry juice with apple, orange, or pomegranate juice for a balanced, slightly sweeter blend.

  • Health Benefits: Cranberry juice is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and compounds that support urinary tract and heart health.

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake gently before serving, as natural separation may occur.
