Tzatziki with Pita Bread

Ingredients
For the Tzatziki
– 1 cup Greek yogurt – plain and thick
– 1 cucumber – peeled, seeded, and grated
– 2 garlic cloves – minced
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar
– 1 tablespoon fresh dill – chopped
– Salt to taste
For the Pita Bread
– 4 to 6 pita breads – plain or whole wheat
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– Optional toppings – za’atar, sesame seeds, or sumac
Instructions
Step 1 – Prepare the Cucumber
– Grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much water as possible using a clean towel or sieve
– This prevents the dip from becoming too watery
Step 2 – Mix the Tzatziki
– In a bowl combine yogurt cucumber garlic olive oil lemon juice and dill
– Add salt to taste and stir well
– Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend
Step 3 – Warm the Pita Bread
– Brush pita breads lightly with olive oil
– Warm them in a skillet or oven until soft and slightly toasted
– Cut into wedges for serving
Step 4 – Serve
– Spoon tzatziki into a bowl and drizzle with a little olive oil if desired
– Serve alongside warm pita wedges as a starter side dish or snack
Tips
– Use full-fat yogurt for a creamier dip
– For a thicker version strain the yogurt before mixing
– Store leftover tzatziki in the fridge for up to 2 days
